WELCOME!

Welcome to Classroom20.com, the social network for those interested in Web 2.0 and collaborative technologies in education. We encourage you to sign up to participate in the great discussions here, to receive event notifications, and to find and connect with colleagues.

Classroom 2.0 is a free, community-supported network. We especially hope that those who are "beginners" will find this a supportive community and a comfortable place to start being part of the digital dialog. If you feel that you are a beginner and want some extra help, please click here to join the Beginner Group as soon as you've registered.

Because of spammers, we have to approve all memberships here (it makes it easier if you fill out your profile). While your membership is pending you are still welcome to peruse the site or attend any events! Once approved, you can introduce yourself to the whole network by going to the introductory forum message. Please also feel free to explore! Here are some starting tips and a "Tour of Classroom 2.0" webcast video, or you can ask help of a "host" below.

If you are representing a commercial entity, please see the specific guidelines on your participation. Please also read our "spamming" policy.

(Note: If you can see this site from school but have any difficulty actually signing up from that school location, it may be a filtering issue related to the sign-up security pages. You may have to sign up from home or outside of the school network. So sorry!)

The topic this Saturday will be "Creating Widgets for Instructional Purposes" with special guest Buffy Hamilton. Buffy will share how she creates and shares widgets with colleagues to use for research and in the classroom. More information and session details are at http://live.classroom20.com. If you're new to the Classroom 2.0 LIVE! show you might want to spend a few minutes viewing the screencast on the homepage to learn how we use Elluminate and navigate the site to find the archives of previous shows and resources. Each show begins at 12pm Eastern and may be accessed in Elluminate directly using the following Classroom 2.0 LIVE! link at http://tinyurl.com/cr20live.

On the Classroom 2.0 LIVE! site (http://live.classroom20.com) you'll find the recordings from our recent "Educational Social Networking for Professional Development" with special guest Steve Hargadon. Click on the "Archive and Resources" page to view the past recordings.

PBS & Classroom 2.0 Live Webinars: Sid the Science Kid on Germs, Viruses, and Vaccines

PBS Teachers® and Classroom 2.0, with support from Elluminate, are partnering on a series of free monthly webinars designed to help preK-12 educators learn new ways to integrate online instructional resources in the classroom and engage students in curriculum lessons. Join us on Tuesday, November 17th at 5pm Pacific / 8pm Eastern to share information about a currently airing episode of Sid the Science Kid that helps children better understand the science behind germs, viruses and vaccines, and learn good prevention techniques such as as sneezing into an elbow, effective hand washing, and disinfecting common household surfaces to prevent germs from spreading. During the webinar, health and early childhood education experts will share ideas on how educators can help kids better understand viruses and vaccinations and support healthy habits in school. More information and the recordings HERE.
